We are committed to developing our staff and we are delighted that after its latest inspection, Ofsted noted that ‘the support provided for teachers’ development is strong and wide ranging.’
We believe that learning should be both enjoyable and enriching. We are innovators with a knowledge-rich curriculum, designed to personalise learning for every student, helping them to reach their potential. With a holistic view of education, we value vocational, practical, creative and academic excellence equally, creating an environment where every student can shine.
We have won numerous awards as a school and we have been accredited with the prestigious IQM Award, which highlights that inclusion at all levels is of paramount importance to us. We are also proud to have been awarded Silver Status by the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health Award.
As a PE department, we embrace the academy’s vision to ensure that ‘...all children, irrespective of their starting point, receive an excellent education’. This would be achieved by innovatively guiding students to:
The successful candidate will join a friendly and highly successful department, both as PE teachers and in the wider school community. The department offers an extensive enrichment programme in several sports and activities, with excellent participation rates, every afternoon of the week. Furthermore, PE staff lead several fixtures, taster sessions and trips, focused on quality of performance, participation for all and excellent behaviour for learning, in which the successful candidate would be expected to assist, compliment and organise themselves to offer the students the best possible experiences in PE and Health.
Our most notable sporting successes at regional and national competitions have been in boys football, girls football, athletics, cross country, table tennis, and cricket. Several of our students perform at an elite standard in all these sports, as well as sports outside of school such as swimming, fencing, kickboxing, mma, gymnastics, trampolining and golf that are celebrated throughout the school. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with and support these young athletes, as well as benefit from the range of sporting and academic experience of a hard working and supportive PE team.
Our PE team are passionate and creative in their approach to offering excellent opportunities in and out of lessons for all of our students, regardless of their background or starting point. The PE teachers also show versatility by teaching BTEC H&SC at KS4 and at our post-16 provision, so the experience, ability and/or willingness to teach these courses would be an advantage.
