Job description

This vacancy is an existing post which requires filling after the previous post holder moved to another post. The post holder will work closely with the Consultant and other team colleagues in the Liaison Service to develop a high quality, responsive, flexible and integrated service meeting the needs of its client group. The post holder will be expected to assess, risk assess, treat and manage patients under the HBTT. The post holder will be expected to see patients in a variety of settings, mostly either in clinic at the hospital or in their own homes. The post holder will be expected to see up to 4 patients daily on clinic days. Flexibility is desirable due to the changeable nature of this patient group: an urgent mental health act assessment may need to be slotted into the timetable, or last-minute changes to the timetable are rare but expected occurrences. The post holder will provide clinical support to other members of staff through the daily MDT meetings and flexibly as the need arises. The post holder may occasionally be called upon to do a physical health examination and perform venepuncture. Administratively, the postholder will provide medication prescriptions, clinic letters and s/he may be called upon to communicate with outside agencies, such as with GPs, or other professionals of other teams. To contribute to the development of the service in conjunction with other Team members. This would include participation in audit and service evaluation The post holder will be responsible for maintaining high quality medical and psychiatric records for clients being treated by the service and for the preparation of communications to GPs and others. To fully participate in Clinical and Business meetings. To provide advice and support to other members of staff. The postholder must ensure that the care delivery is in accordance with relevant professional guidance and current legislation. The post holder will be expected to participate in staff training including involvement in training programmes within the Directorate and within the Royal Bolton Hospital. This will include training all professions in mental health issues. In accordance with the Trusts risk management policy the post holder will be expected to report incidents/accidents in accordance with the policy and to provide oral/written reports, as required.
