Job description
Clinical Participate in supporting relatives and friends following traumatic events, serious injury, illness and death of children and adults. Provide care for aggressive and/or violent patients whilst optimising other patients safety whilst promoting and protecting your own safety. Actively participate in the care pathways associated with patients presenting with Mental Health issues in frequent challenging circumstances. Advise on the promotion of health and prevention of illness. Work in collaboration with all team members to ensure that care delivery is evidence based and in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct. Assessment of care needs and development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care. Identify patients individual dependency care needs and provide support for physical, psychological and social requirements. Rapid assessment and early identification of serious illness and /or injury and initiation of urgent treatment. Participate in the assessment, implementation and delivery of individualised patient care, seeking guidance as appropriate. Take charge of a group of patients with support appropriate to your level of experience and competency Ensure that all patients/clients needs are identified and plans of care are implemented to meet individual patient and client needs. Provide patients emergency care in all areas of the ED Timely multi-tasking and prioritising to meet excessive service demand. Awareness of child protection and vulnerable adult procedures and act accordingly. Develop skills/competence to take charge of a small clinical area for occasional shifts. Ensure effective staff supervision when running the care area and maintain productive working relationships within the ward team. Liaise with the bed managers to ensure the most effective and timely use of available beds and most appropriate allocation to manage any possible clinical risk. Ensure that best practice in care is delivered. To have responsibility for risk management and health and safety in the workplace. Maintain clinical standards in the absence of the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse. Actively promote the Trusts commitment to equality and diversity by treating all patients, visitors and colleagues with dignity and respect and ensuring their specific health and wellbeing needs are met.
