Job description
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Dundee, is currently looking to recruit a Stores Person for an up to 2 month contract on a rate of £15.41/hour PAYE. The working hours are Monday - Thursday 8.30am - 16.15pm and Friday 8.30am - 15.00pm. This role will be based onsite.
Responsibilities:
- Placement of orders for vehicle parts, receipt of materials, issuing and storage of materials, stock checking and updating of the fleet management system.
- Receiving and checking goods delivered to the Store, checking the goods against the official order and advice note
- Recording all deliveries and issues in the stock control system
- Processing stock and non-stock orders for delivery following receipt of the appropriate requisitions
- Monitoring stock levels and advising the Store Co-ordinator of the need to re-order
- Issuing equipment, exchanging /replacing items of stock/equipment as required
- Maintaining stock records; this involves recording the receipt and issue of all items on the computerised stock management system
- Assisting with the daily stock checks
- Assisting with off-loading deliveries where required either manually or by use of Forklift Truck
- Maintaining records and ensuring all filing is completed
- Conduct sizing exercises for PPE and undress uniform for current and new staff.
- Assist in the return of incorrect goods to suppliers
- Assist in the issue of PPE for repair ensuring correct paperwork is generated and that on return the PPE items are returned to the correct user
- Carrying out general housekeeping within the stores area
- Carrying out driving and delivery duties as required
- Organise the movement of goods between organisational locations using the most appropriate method considering time, weight and size issues
- Placing of Purchase Orders in accordance with the Purchasing section guidelines and the completion and processing of associated paperwork and resolving any queries relating to the delivery or invoicing materials
- Liaising with Suppliers to resolve any problems relating to wrong deliveries of materials
Essential Skills:
- Previous experience of working in a stores environment is essential, as is a confidential approach to all aspects of the post
- Must have good Numeracy skills, English (both written and verbal), knowledge of Microsoft Word Packages, in particular Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Have the ability to follow instruction and work unsupervised.
- Current UK Driving Licence

Desirable Skills:
- Previous experience of working in a fleet/dealership stores environment, as is a confidential approach to all aspects of the post.
- A City and Guild or NVQ qualification in Vehicle Parts Distribution and Supply or equivalent experience
- Completion of a Dealer / Franchise training scheme and specific experience of Scania, MAN, Mercedes
- A permit to use a counterbalance forklift truck
- Experience and knowledge of a computerised fleet management / stock control systems.
