Why this job matters
We are looking for a Network designer to join BT’s Converged Core network, which is at the core of BT’s 2030 ambition to become the world’s most trusted connector of people, devices and machines is currently undergoing a vast transformation programme involving the refresh of its hardware and a complete re-design of how services are provided, through the use of network programmability.
We are looking for someone versatile with a good mix of network and software skills to help make this a reality, although if you tick one of the 2 boxes really well, you will be considered.
Working alongside Senior Designers and Architects, the variety of work will mean the job is always exciting and you will get a great opportunity to learn new skills and work in a Team that is core to most of what BT does.
What you’ll be doing
Design, code & test network focused solutions based on specific requirements using standard approaches in line with the wider technical strategy or roadmap. Solutions include both the OSS and network aspects, using network programmability as the mechanism for configuration deployment.
Design solutions that are scalable, adaptable & cost effective in line with business needs
Provide technical guidance to Platforms, OSS Teams, NIT and Operations to ensure smooth delivery of changes to Live
Collaborate with more Senior Network Designers on elements of strategic designs
Provide in-life support for issues related to their specific solution and root cause analysis for my own designs.
What you'll bring
Ideally, the candidate would have worked in a role where they were able to showcase their understanding of network fundamentals. They would have led on some project showing their ability to work on their own and within a wider team.
Mandatory:
Strong network knowledge: CCNA / NRS1 level minimum
Experience in Network Designing
Experience with IP MPLS routing system
Understanding of NetDevOps
Understanding of Agile working methodologies
Nice to have:
Software Testing Experience
Coding / scripting skills: Python and TOSCA
Network Testing Experience: Spirent/IXIA test tool
