Job description
The post holder will be accountable for the introduction, development and delivery of a quality speech and language therapy (SALT), developing care pathways for the young people and young adults with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) located in HMYOI Cookham Wood. He / She will ensure that the service is effective, well-co-ordinated and responsive to the changing needs of the population of the establishment. The therapists clinical duties will cover the broad range of communication impairments and associated difficulties e.g. voice and stammering . The postholder will perform a key role in working with young people with challenging behaviour who, for whatever reason, have difficulty communicating or expressing themselves. He / She will ensure effective joint working on-site with other clinical, educational and prison professionals. In addition, the therapist will be responsible for liaising with other professionals in the fields of education, health, mental health, social services, youth offending/probation teams, legal advocates and the voluntary sector where appropriate.
