Job description
An academic family in Kensington is looking for an afterschool manny to look after their twin 8 year old boys. The hours will vary depending on whether it's term time or holiday with the hours being 35 hours and 50 hours per week respectively. Salary will be paid at an average of 40 hours across the year.
Duties include, but not limited to:
• Getting children ready in the morning (2 mornings per week)
• School runs
• Preparing children’s meals and cleaning up afterwards
• Reading with children
• Helping and encouraging homework and music practice
• Carrying out arts and crafts
• Taking children to parks, playgrounds, museums, and galleries
• Encouraging learning and development through different activities
• Ensuring play areas are tidy and organised and toys have been put away
• Instilling a sense of adventure and fun
• Teaching kindness and good manners
• Child-related housekeeping duties such as children’s linen, laundry, and bedrooms as well as keeping the kitchen clean and tidy.
• Ad hoc errands for the broader household (dishwasher, post office, shops, etc)
• Occasional travel with the family
Both boys are very active and great conversationalists. They enjoy learning about new things and are very inquisitive about the world. The boys have different interests and hobbies, and it is important for the nanny to teach the boys to compromise so that both boys can enjoy the activities planned. One is very into board games, World Wars I & II, planes, cars, Lego and pop music! He plays golf and swims twice a week and is learning the cello. The other is very creative and already showing huge talent with drawing. He loves learning about religion, history, kings and queens, mythical stories, creatures and gods and goddesses. He is an expert on Egyptian artefacts and gods and knows a lot about classical music. He also enjoys dance, baking, and sewing and has an appreciation for beautiful things. He also plays the flute.
A driver is essential for this role and they will be given the use of the family car to help transport the boys around.
You will not be expected to travel with the family on their holidays.
