Job description
We are currently seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to join a well-established, family-run SME, who operate in the Commercial Fit-out arena. As the Contracts Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing multiple projects. You will work closely with varied stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery whilst managing a team of 4 Project Managers.
The role will involve travel to customer sites regularly, within a 2/3 hour radius from Hatfield.
Key responsibilities include:
- Allocation of projects efficiently and run the weekly Operations team meeting
- Setting of Project Management KPIs & accountability structure for Operations department.
- Manage your own portfolio of projects effectively.
- Active management of existing subcontractor base, improving engagement w and agreeing on unit rates wherever possible.
- Take responsibility of growing the subcontractor base to meet demand.
- Managing relationship with key suppliers.
- Ensuring quality of workmanship on site and maintaining high customer service levels including snagging.
- Ensuring GP% target is maintained and with target for improvement.
- Responsible for Health & Safety on site.
- Responsible for implementing new ideas/changes.
- Responsible for stock levels and ensuring accurate stock financials.
- Ensuring cost analysis are completed on time and any significant variances to budget are reported/investigated.
- Involved in future projects team recruitment.
- Ensuring SAGE is used correctly from a project costing perspective
- Regular reporting to directors on Projects.
- Proactively line manage a team of Project Managers, ensuring all training and development needs are identified (and any necessary certifications are kept up to date)
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Contracts/Project Manager
- Proven direct line management experience
- Experience in the construction/fit out industry - Ideally Kitchens/Washrooms/Scientific Labs or into the education sector.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of project management methodologies and tools
- Commercially orientated mindset
- Experience of using SAGE is highly beneficial
- Excellent leadership and proven people management skills
- Effective communication and collaboration abilities with a customer first attitude
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Skilled in Microsoft Excel
Office based role with travel when required.
Hours: 06:30am -4.30pm (Monday - Friday)
