Teacher of History and Politics (part-time)

Start: September 2024

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a well-qualified and dedicated part-time History and Politics teacher to join the highly successful Humanities faculty.

With an excellent honours degree, candidates should be accustomed to, or capable of, teaching students of a wide ability range.  Commitment and drive are critical qualities for this role, as is a demonstrable curiosity and passion for History and Politics teaching.

Reporting to the Head of History and Politics, the candidate will be committed to motivating and inspiring students so that they develop a love of learning. They will also be committed to ensuring the highest standards of progress and achievement for all students.

The History teaching on offer with this role covers all key stages. Politics teaching is taught at Key Stage Five only. Please note that the ability to teach Religious Studies at Key Stage Three would be an advantage.

The Faculty has developed a particularly collaborative and supportive atmosphere where resources are shared, yet practitioners are encouraged to be creative and adaptive with their materials and methods, and teaching autonomy is respected.

Responding to the needs of the individual student is a vital aspect of a teacher’s role at Ashford School, whether this is during co-curricular activities or in one-to-one academic booster sessions.

Teachers at Ashford School enjoy a welcoming, comfortable and well-resourced environment and are provided with assistance from a range of support staff. Continuing professional development opportunities are offered to staff during the academic year.

Part-time teachers act as Assistant Form Tutors and are expected to contribute to the co-curricular life of the School.  Single person accommodation may be available in return for boarding duties. All teaching staff and pupils in Years 7-11 have their own Surface Pro device.

The part-time allocation for this role is approximately 0.6-0.7.

Salary by negotiation and dependent on skills, attributes and qualifications of the successful candidate.  Applications are welcomed from ECTs or experienced teachers.
