ASSIGNMENT OVERVIEW:
r10 is currently seeking a Defect Manager to assist in ensuring the quality and reliability of software products by effectively managing the defect lifecycle. Your role will involve overseeing the resolution of issues that arise during development, maintaining the integrity of our cloud infrastructure and applications.
The main focus is to ensure the excellence of the cloud-based software solutions on AWS within an Agile management framework. Through effective defect management and swift resolution across multiple development cycles, playing a crucial role in delivering high-quality cloud applications and infrastructure.
ASSIGNMENT OBJECTIVES:
- Collaborate with the testing team to identify, document, and classify defects found during various testing phases, including functional, regression, integration, and acceptance testing.
- Utilise defect tracking tools to maintain a comprehensive repository of all reported defects. Ensure accurate and detailed information is captured, including steps to reproduce, severity, priority, and affected components.
- Analyse reported defects to identify trends, patterns, and potential root causes. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, testers, and business analysts, to determine the underlying issues and propose appropriate solutions.
- Work closely with project stakeholders to prioritise defects based on business impact, severity, and project timelines.
- Facilitate the resolution process by assigning defects to appropriate stakeholders, tracking progress, and ensuring timely resolution. Act as a liaison between development and testing teams to facilitate effective communication and problem-solving.
- Prepare regular defect status reports and metrics for project stakeholders, including defect trends, resolution rates, and open defect counts. Provide insights into the overall quality of the product and identify areas for improvement.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve testing processes, tools, and techniques to prevent defects from occurring in the future.
- Build strong relationships with project stakeholders, including project managers, product owners, and customers. Engage proactively with stakeholders to address concerns, gather feedback, and ensure alignment on defect management strategies.
EXPERIENCE & SKILL-SET:
- Proven experience in software testing and defect management, preferably in Agile environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and drive resolution.
- Strong understanding of cloud computing principles, particularly AWS services and infrastructure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in defect tracking tools.
- Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies and quality assurance processes.
- Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
