The departments that contribute to Art and Design, enable students to develop their gifts and talents and learn other important personal qualities and transferable skills. If you believe in the power of the arts and design to transform young people and have a sense of moral purpose in delivering practical, theoretical and disciplinary knowledge and skill to all students regardless of aptitude, then we would love you to consider this post. There are already subject leaders for Art, DT and Food whom you will form a team with to support the overall experience and impact of the curriculum.

Applications from DT specialists with experience in teaching Art and Design are welcomed. We are looking for someone who

●       Has excellent subject knowledge and a passion for the subject which is evident in their day-to-day teaching.

●       Has experience of teaching GCSE Art and Design.

●       Has a good understanding of the progression routes for students into the Creative Industries.

●       Has the ability to be across more than one specialty, especially textiles, ceramics, photography/digital Art.

●       Can commit to be part of an innovative and forward-thinking school.

●       Willing to play a full and active role in the Catholic Life of our school

We can offer you the support of a strong, hard-working team and the opportunity to work with students who aim to meet the high expectations we have of them. The Academy has a unique admissions arrangement, in that it supports Catholic families but also admits 80 students from the community each year regardless of  religious or denominational background. We are incredibly proud of our external examination results and the inclusion work that happens at the Academy which enables young people to thrive.

The successful candidate will work extremely closely with the Vice Principal for Quality of Education to ensure that the Academy’s vision, values and strategies are coherently delivered through actions by all staff in school, and that standards of academic progress, behaviour and character are high.   St Paul’s has 1200 students aged 11-16 and is a diverse community centred on the charism of St Paul as a missionary, seeker of truth and a champion of justice. Our school motto is taken from St Paul’s letter to the Ephesians and simply states ‘You are God’s work of Art’. This is a mission statement as well something which acts as a benchmark for the day to day experiences of the community.
