Job description
My client is a manufacturer in the water pumps sectors and they are an industrial group, specialising in solutions and applications for efficient and sustainable integrated water cycle management . They are looking for Sales Application Engineers for their Peterborough operations. Job Summary: My client is seeking an Internal Sales Application Engineers who will be responsible for liaising with customers and internal stakeholders to identify and verify their requirements and specifications. You will prepare competitive costings, quotations, and tenders that are technically and commercially accurate, in accordance with Company policies and procedures. As an Application Engineer, you will be the key point of contact for customers and provide technical support and solutions that meet their needs and expectations, thereby strengthening relationships and positively impacting the opportunity to win orders. Job Specification: Principal Duties and Responsibilities The following duties and responsibilities are essential for this job: Customer Liaison: The candidate will be responsible for liaising with Sales on the Customer's requirements and specifications, including scope and timing. Review RFQ (Request for Quotation)/Tender Documents: The candidate will review RFP/tender documents to ensure contractual requirements are adequately defined and determine the Company’s capability to meet the specified requirements. Prepare a full Techno-Commercial Offer: The candidate will prepare and submit the techno-commercial offer to Sales as per the offer submission schedule. Review Technical Specifications: The candidate will review and evaluate detailed technical specifications for packaged equipment, extract applicable Customer requirements, and communicate the same to sub-contractors, sub-vendors, and internal stakeholders. Obtain Quotations: The candidate will obtain quotations for relevant bought-in equipment in accordance with applicable Supply Chain policies and procedures. Evaluate Sub-Suppliers Quotations: The candidate will perform technical and commercial evaluation of sub-suppliers’ quotations (for the major critical components/items) to ensure the quote/scope is in compliance with the Customer's requirements/specifications. Submit Detailed Proposals: The candidate will develop and submit a detailed proposal to the Customer in accordance with the applicable Tendering Policies and Procedures (ITO - Inquiry to Order). Manage CPQ Tender Data: The candidate will ensure the CPQ tender data and tendering front log are accurately completed and actively managed. Provide Technical and Commercial Clarifications: The candidate will provide ongoing technical and commercial clarifications as requested by the Customer and internal stakeholders to support successful order placement. Tendering Support: The candidate will provide tendering support to regional tendering and sales teams for win order strategies across the product lines to ensure all activities occur on time and with high quality from proposal receipt to handover. Quotation Follow-Up: The candidate will follow up on all quotations to assist with conversion of quotations to orders. Project Management: The candidate will project manage orders between the factories, 3rd party suppliers, and other services to ensure on-time delivery of all goods and services offered. Job Specification: Knowledge, Skills & Abilities The ideal candidate for this job should possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: Knowledge of Pump Products: The candidate should have a good understanding of pump products, their specifications, and be able to review supporting designs effectively. Technical Expertise: The candidate should be able to read and interpret manufacturing drawings and other technical information with ease. Additionally, they should have a creative problem-solving ability, engineering knowledge to provide technical solutions, and develop alternatives. Professionalism: The candidate should respond to all inquiries professionally and remain calm and composed when working under pressure. Customer Satisfaction: The candidate should be driven to achieve and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction. Self-Motivation: The candidate should be self-motivated, highly organized, and methodical in their work approach. Additionally, they should display exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, even when handling multiple demands. Deadline Management: The candidate should strive to meet all commitments and have a proven track record of meeting deadlines while maintaining high-performance standards. Energetic and Goal-Oriented: The candidate should be energetic, with a clear sense of urgency and direction, committed to helping the Company achieve its goals. They should be able to work effectively in a team environment while maintaining a positive attitude Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, or a related field a bonus, but not essential. Proven track record of success in sales or business development, in the water industry and pump & rotating equipment industry. Strong technical knowledge of pumps and related equipment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high degree of autonomy. Proficient in Microsoft Office and experience working with CRM systems (SAP or equivalent). Valid UK driving license. Eligibility to work in the UK. Salary: The salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience.
