Job description
Pyrland School, part of the Richard Huish Trust, is looking to appoint an inspirational professional to fill the role of Head of Physics from September 24. We are seeking an outstanding candidate who has a proven track record in raising standards, achieving outstanding student progress and who is committed, caring and hard working. The successful candidate will have a passion for improving life chances for all students through leading high quality teaching and learning within the Science faculty, whilst maintaining a safe, respectful and ambitious learning environment.
The academy is on journey of improvement and has a strong staff team in place to ensure every child is enabled to fulfil their potential. We have excellent pastoral support and our students report that they feel very happy and safe at the school. We are proud of our students and the relationships between staff and students are strong. Community engagement is also an important feature; a recent poll showed a high degree of parental satisfaction.

Pyrland School is an 11-16 academy in the north of Taunton. With modern, impressive facilities, the academy currently caters for approximately 890 students, with an increasing roll anticipated to see numbers rise to in the region of 1200 over the next few years. Taunton is Somerset’s county town and has easy access to the M5. Somerset is a lovely place to live with the stunning Somerset Levels, Quantock Hills and Blackdowns on your doorstep. The Trust will also offer generous support towards re-location for outstanding candidates.
