We are looking for a proactive and talented person to join the Design & Print Centre at the University of Southampton. The Design & Print Centre is a multi-function service, meeting the needs of the University of Southampton community. With clients spanning staff and students at the University and from outside the organisation, the Design and Print Centre team’s extensive experience and knowledge of design services and printed products aims to add value and deliver an excellent customer experience.

About the Role

The Design and Print Centre offers a full range of services to its customers, including: litho print, digital print, large format print and signage print & installations. The Signage Technician role sits within our Large Format & Signage function and joins our existing Signage Specialist and Large Format Specialist. In this exciting and varied role you will undertake a wide range of projects commissioned by the University and our external clients. You will conduct site surveys, making recommendations based on your previous experience, and producing the finished products to the agreed specifications and to an exceptionally high standard. The Design & Print Centre has a wide range of modern equipment, and you will use this while working alongside some great people who all have extensive experience and knowledge of the services we provide.

What you’ll do

Prepare customer artwork for production on various output devices.
Conduct site surveys and offer solutions and recommendations to our customers
Produce and install a wide range of signage to suit the needs of University and external customers.
Operate and maintain Large Format and Signage printers and various finishing equipment.
Work with the Signage & Large Format Specialists, planning work and ordering materials to achieve customer deadlines.
Assist other teams in the Design and Print Centre as necessary to maintain the flow of production.
What you’ll bring

A passion for print.
A keen eye and excellent attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills.
Experience of working in a busy, high-pressure print/signage environment.
Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, RIP software and Signage finishing and installation techniques.
Knowledge of different printing processes and strong problem-solving abilities.
