Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon

British Veterinary Association

Location

Dorchester, Dorset | United Kingdom

Job description

Veterinary Surgeon from £42k - £60k DOE Dorchester

Why did you become a vet? To care for animals, a simple answer really.

So, what is making you feel disillusioned in your current role? The 10-minute consults, strict targets, no time to discuss cases, more and more focus on the bottom line.

This isn’t what you signed up for. You are a good vet, you want to be the best vet you can be, learn, help, and give back to the industry you love. You want to get back that energy, passion, drive, and what you love most about being a vet.

Luckily, we are working with an independent practice where 20 minute consults are standard, targets are minimal, a place where vets are given the time to work and own cases in a team setting where everybody is on the same page and they are recruiting.

Interested?

Based in the picturesque village of Puddletown for over 12 years this state of the art family owned independent practice is looking for a small animal vet to join their team. A practice that has struck the right balance between ambition, continuous improvement, patient welfare, and not making profits their ultimate driver.

Without shareholders or a management team in London, they can reinvest in their team and equipment and develop long-lasting relationships with clients.

With a practice motto of “keeping your pet well,” the irony is the bottom line look looks after itself when the patient is their main focus. This is a practice where everybody pulls together when there’s work, and relaxes when it’s time. A strong team who want the best for patient and practice.

Vets are given the time and resources to work cases up here not automatically referred to a hub practice aiming to give continuity for both vets and clients. It’s better when you have a client base that you know. Who are respectful and understanding of what you do, because they’ve been coming to you for years.

A three year experienced vet is ideally what they would like but it’s a kind caring vet that matters most to them. A vet who is confident and capable of first opinion small animal consults, routine surgery with a very interesting caseload to manage. You will work closely with the team and the head vet is always available for clinical support.

It’s a 40-hour week with flexibility on the number of days you work, P/T will be considered. No OOH’s with 1 Sat in 4, 08.30-14.30. Accommodation can also be provided initially if required.

Well, what’s in it for you? A salary of £42k - £60k per annum DOE . VDS, and RCVS fees paid for, a comprehensive CPD budget, and certificates are encouraged. Plus they provide private medical cover, healthshield and a company pension scheme. Holiday entitlement is 5.6 weeks a year.

With local shops nearby and a country pub on your doorstep, Dorchester 10 minutes away for shopping, restaurants and cinemas, outstanding countryside on your doorstep and the coast only 20 minutes away what’s not to like?

Choosing a new practice is a big decision. You are a good vet who wants to improve, work with a like-minded team in a compassionate caring environment and a place to call home.

So, what’s next?

Send your CV, don’t worry if it’s not up to date. We can’t get the whole story in a job ad so ask any questions. I’ll answer honestly, no hard sell.

Be a happier, relaxed more fulfilled vet.
