Job description
- Manage all finance and accounting operations for UK subsidiary of a global company, across 2 Scottish sites
- Undertake the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
- Prepare and report timely monthly and annual financial statements to CEO and parent company
- Manage an external audit under tight deadlines
- Manage 2 direct reports, Finance & Admin Assistant and Shipping Administrator
- Attend management meetings and provide strong direction to management team on key financial topics. Reporting directly to CEO and Group CFO.
Responsibilities - Manage all accounting operations including purchase ledger, sales ledger, general ledger, inventory accounting and revenue recognition (knowledge of grant recognition accounting is preferred)
- Compile the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
- Prepare and publish monthly financial statements to a tight deadline
- Undertake month-end and year-end close process
- Manage the year-end financial audit process to a tight deadline
- Assist Finance Assistant with day-to-day management of banking - including but not limited to, cash receipts and payment postings, bank reconciliations, supplier payments
- Customer and supplier account reconciliations
- Monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Cashflow analysis
- Compile and review monthly VAT returns
- Monthly payroll duties (experience not essential) alongside Finance Assistant
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
- Manage and comply with local and IFRS reporting requirements
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Additional controller duties as necessary
