Job description
What you will do in your working day
This is an exciting time for the Nuclear Team in Westlakes, with an interesting and expanding pipeline of both international and UK based projects. As a Civil Structural Apprentice Engineer you will be required to support senior engineers on tasks including:
- Hand sketches
- 3D scheme models
- Functional calculations
- Design risk assessments
- Directive compliance assessments
- Attendance to client meetings
- Testing activities
- Commissioning activities
- Post project review meetings
- Identify and report change
- Ensure that HSE legislation is applied at a project level
- Provide input to Quality Assurance audits as appropriate
- Report non-conformities, incidents and observations through the appropriate systems
The training you will be getting - Professional Development:
- In addition to your identified external training provision in Civil-Structural Engineering level 6 (usually delivered via day release or in block terms) at Lakes College, Cumbria; our Apprentice ADVANCE programme is designed to help you build your career in AECOM
- You will attend a number of instructor-led training sessions where you will meet and hear from people across the business and take part in a series of interactive activities to equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to succeed in your role
- Alongside the instructor-led elements of the ADVANCE programme, you will also engage with an online curriculum via AECOM University and may have the opportunity to join the ADVANCE monthly webinar series. Along with your mentor this will support you towards achieving your professional qualification
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship - This apprenticeship will support you towards achieving your professional qualification and the knowledge to become a Civil Engineer
- On the successful completion of the Honours Degree students will have achieved the academic requirements for registration at IEng level. Registration for IEng will still require membership with a professional institute and a successful application for registration

Things to consider The course requires a minimum of 5 GCSE's (or Scottish Standard Grade or Junior Certificate in Ireland) at grade 'C/4' or above as well as 3 A-Levels (or equivalent) including Maths and a physical science at grade 'C' or above.
