Job Description Summary
As a Senior Contract Manager you will lead, manage and coordinate the commercial and contractual aspects of new build and complex modernization projects on nuclear power plants, through all phases of design, procurement and site installation. You will provide advice to the Project Manager particularly on commercial matters in the execution of complex service orders.
Job Description
Main Responsibilities:
- Manage the commercial and contractual aspects of complex projects in execution to achieve the projects goals and objectives.
- Coordinate with Project team (and particularly planning, financial controlling and engineering) to achieve and further improve margin.
- Drive in coordination with Project Manager all contractual and commercial issues such as the issuance of notifications to customers, subcontractors, vendors and insurers, in line with contractual requirements.
- Prepare, manage and negotiate claims to / from partners, insurers, and contractors.
- Develop and maintain commercial relationships with clients, partners and main subcontractors/vendors to ensure smooth operation of project and smooth dispute resolution.
- Perform negotiations, together with Project Manager, on contract amendments and settlement agreements with clients, partners and/or subcontractors, vendors and insurers.
- Collaborate in identification, quantification and mitigation of risk & opportunities.
- Minimize exposure to risk and claims whilst maximizing opportunities and financial/operational performance and preserving GE contractual entitlements.
- Where necessary work in partnership with Legal teams to ensure business, project and site teams receive the best contractual and legal advice and guidance particularly in respect of (but not limited to) matters subject to dispute resolution proceedings.
- Provide guidance and ad hoc support to Services Project Managers about contractual issues on Nuclear Services orders.
- Report business exposure / opportunities and status of the claims you are managing.
- Report insurance cases in the insurance portal tool.
- Capture return of experience and best practices on commercial issues.
- Share lessons learnt across the contract management community and maintain a feedback loop to tendering in order to improve quality / profitability of GE deliverables in the future.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in contract management
- University Degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Business Administration, or Law
- Understanding of contract law
- Experience of high level negotiations with customers and business partners
- Fluent in English, other European languages would be a plus
Desired Skills:
- Understanding of the power (service) industry
- Ability to produce complex substantiated Extension of Time and costs claims as well as any other contractual claims, and manage proactively and effectively all of the events having a bearing on the contract and performance of GE.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, proficient with spreadsheets, databases and presentation software
- Excellent in employee leadership skills, considering the framework of the local, the business and the project requirements and rules
- Ability to convince and reach the other’s agreement in a multicultural environment
- Ability to take initiative and act independently with good judgement
- Problem solving attitude, pragmatism, flexibility and resilience
- This role requires an ability to interact effectively with management and peers at all levels within a matrixed organization and an ability to work horizontally to deliver outcomes.
- A team player, who can demonstrate proactive thinking, a sense of urgency, solid judgement and a good business sense.
As part of your responsibility will be to work on the Naval project, you will have to hold/ be able to obtain a Security Check (SC) clearance. We will support the application for Security Clearance if the individual does not have it. Due to the nature of work a person has to be a UK national or a Dual National from a non ITAR country (approved by MOD).
