Job description

Axcis Education are working closely with a mainstream Primary School in the Okehampton area of West Devon to find a Full-Time SEND Classroom Assistant. This role would be exclusively supporting the SEND provision in the school, primarily with students with ASC, Speech and Language Difficulties, Dyslexia, SEMH and Hearing Impairment.

The primary focus is to ensure that every pupil enjoys attending school, and that the pupils have a desire to learn and actively participate in lessons and develop high aspirations. Their values underpin their practice and expectations of the pupils, they are; working hard, being gentle, honesty, listening, kindness, and looking after and taking pride in the school.

The school aim to equip their pupils with skills required to effectively continue their studies in secondary school, and to be independent and confident in all facets of life. Applicants that can successfully support this ethos will be:

This is a Full-Time role, and there will be potential to work in the classroom, in small groups and on a 1:1 basis. Due to the location of the school and the lack of public transport in the locality, being a driver or having consistent travel options is paramount.
