Mockingbird Family Hub Home Carer

Location

Hartlepool, County Durham | United Kingdom

Job description

Have you ever thought of being a foster carer or are you interested in taking on a new and exciting challenge in your fostering career?

Hartlepool is a vibrant and energetic town with growing prospects. As a Local Authority we are striving to support our children and families to be the best they possibly can be and would like to recruit dedicated, driven and committed people to help us achieve that.

We are looking to recruit two Hub Home carers to be a key part of our Mockingbird fostering programme in Hartlepool.

What is the Mockingbird Family Model?

Mockingbird is a global award-winning and pioneering programme led by The Fostering Network in the UK, delivering sustainable foster care. It is an evidence-based model structured around the support and relationships an extended family provides. The model nurtures the relationships between children, young people and foster families supporting them to build a resilient and caring community.

You can find out more about the Mockingbird programme here:

Hub Home Carer responsibilities

• To offer peer/practical support and training to 6 to 9 satellite homes in the constellation.

• To plan, organise and implement monthly meetings, support groups and other events
• To be able to offer planned sleepovers and extended periods of support during times of crisis.

Requirements

• You must be an approved foster carer or have suitable experience and be willing to undertake a statutory assessment process to become registered.
• The hub home must have at least one spare bedroom and two available beds (one can be a sofa bed/camp bed for emergencies)
• The Hub Home Carer(s) will be available for on average six days a week, 24/7 to respond to concerns and offer support to the participating satellite carers via telephone calls, home visits, and or sleepovers in the hub home. You are not expected to have a child in your care every day.
• To demonstrate flexibility and be available to provide planned support for satellite families as well as responding to crisis situations.
