This highly recognised business creates a range of chilled award winning, branded and own-label products for the major retailers, putting innovation first. They are now seeking a creative Senior Development Technologist who can push the boundaries to lead and strategize upcoming projects.
This is a site-based role with travel required between sites, so a full driving licence is essential.
The Role
Reporting to the NPD Manager and working in a small team, you will help to curate a new category for the business. You’ll formulate exciting and commercially viable new products and take these through all stages of the NPD process from concept through to launch. You’ll enjoy being hands on, and also bring your business acumen to consider consumer insights, seasonal trends and regulatory requirements. You’ll write food briefs that will look to propel this category to the forefront of the market. You’ll also present to respected retail customers and ensure key stakeholder relationships are built and nurtured.
An important aspect of the role will include liaising closely with suppliers to ensure your products are developed and launched in line with brand values. Collaborating with cross functional teams will be a must, providing them with your specialist process knowledge in order to pinpoint product and process opportunities. In addition, you will take responsibility for producing quality contracts ready for launch, demonstrating commercial understanding and creating product costing.
The Candidate
This role would fit an ambitious, creative and driven NPD Technologist/Product Developer with previous experience in chilled food manufacturing, who is looking to advance their foodie career. A Degree in food science or a related field would be highly advantageous. You will have a keen interest in food trends and equally excel in the creative and technical aspects of product development. It is essential that your communication skills are exceptional in order to build and maintain working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. You’ll also need an excellent attention to detail when it comes to organisation, and a passion for project management to be a success in this challenging but rewarding role.
