Job description
An international financial institution is looking for a Tax Officer.
Tax Officer - Responsibilities:
Prepare Corporation Tax computations for quarterly payment instalments and Tax returns and to prepare tickets including payment instructions for the payments and notifications to HMRC.
Prepare Tax Return related documents such as Head Office management charges, Transfer Pricing calculations, Branch Expenses calculations etc.
Prepare other tax related reports such as FATCA/CRS, Corporate Criminal Offence risk assessments, and Head Offoce tax report etc.
Assist the senior staff on other administrative tasks in relation to Corporation tax and Tax regulations.
Cover accounting tasks at busy time as well as in the absence of the other team members.
Provide preliminary research for new regulations (e.g. BEPS, Domestic Top Up Tax, MDR etc) and to analyse impact on the bank’s business to report to the senior staff and liaise with the external tax advisors.
Summarise the tax and regulations news from organisations such as external advisors and Tax Journals to report to the team and the branch’s management.
Organise and plan the tax related work and new regulations, including consultation with the external advisors/Head Office
Liaise with group companies (Head Office, other branches and subsidiaries) and external advisers on tax related issues.
Proof read various documents prepared by internal staff
Partake in cross-training across the Department as and when instructed.
Ad hoc duties as the management may from time-to-time reasonably require.
Tax Officer - Requirements:
Previous experience in a similar setting
Good understanding of Corporation tax system to communicate with external advisors.
Willingness to lead projects in relation to Corporation tax and regulatory reporting.
Working in accounting or tax
Previous experience in Japanese organisation is a plus
