About the role We are looking for an IT Systems Specialist who can set their own objectives, as the IT Systems Specialist you will be expected to communicate with contacts inside and outside of the team to explain and interpret operational processes, practices, and procedures. You will also be responsible for installing, configuring, and managing Hyper-converged systems. You will need to have experience configuring and setting up physical and virtual servers and creating and documenting templates for server configurations builds, and baselines. The IT Systems Specialist will be responsible for preparing specifications for commercial off-the-shelf hardware, software, and services. You will also prepare, and present training information to technical staff and user personnel.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Administer VMWare vSphere/vCenter environments, Microsoft Windows Servers, Windows Software Update Services (WSUS), System Center Operations Manager (SCOM), System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), DHCP, DNS, Print & File Servers, Storage Servers, and Microsoft clustering.
- Administer system security tools (i.e., Symantec End Point Protection, NTP, AV, and McAfee Solidcore).
- Participate in on-call support, scheduled weekend outages, and disaster recovery activities as required.
- Document all procedures and installs of new products.
- Review documentation to ensure that it meets testing standards, document troubleshooting, and restoral activities.
- Create test plans that will allow for a proper evaluation of hardware and software being considered for implementation.
- Be able to evaluate vendor submissions for compliance with customer's specifications.
Essential Skills: - Experience with Virtualization technologies (e.g., VMWare) and/or an equivalent qualification
- Experience administrating Windows systems and servers
- Experience with various Linux operating systems
- Experience with Nutanix and Cohesity
- Disaster Recovery, Back-up, Storage and System Security Tools Knowledge
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Critical thinking/ability to analyze a situation for underlying issues
- Commitment to maintaining the highest standard of customer service is essential with outstanding oral and written communication
- Ability/desire to learn new skills and technologies as required
