Job description

Firmware Engineer required to join a global engineering company based in Crawley, West Sussex. C and C++ firmware coding and testing experience required in a dynamic an stimulating industry sector.

Senex Recruitment are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join dynamic team as a Firmware Engineer. As a Firmware Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design, coding, and testing of firmware for new hardware and improvement projects. You will have the opportunity to lead projects independently or collaborate with a small team, ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality firmware solutions.

Responsibilities in the Firmware Engineer job

Firmware Design and Coding:

• Lead the design and coding of firmware for new hardware and improvement projects.
• Carry out development and verification of embedded firmware in C and C++ for new sensor products.
• Apply a high level of design rigour, clearly justifying design decisions in writing and verbally.

Collaboration:

• Collaborate with in-house and subcontract electronics designers to shape relevant specifications and acceptance criteria.
• Work closely with subcontract hardware designers to develop driver-level firmware for hardware verification.

Team Collaboration:

• Collaborate with internal groups to provide firmware and software that can be reused or interfaced with.
• Share knowledge within the business through comments, documentation, and training presentations.

Verification and Testing:

• Specify, execute, and review verification tests and results
• Ensure firmware meets the required quality standards through rigorous testing procedures.

Project Management:

• Plan and deliver the firmware track in projects, adhering to new product development processes.
• Ensure project milestones are met on time, contributing to the overall success of the project.

Continuous Learning:

• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and learn new languages as necessary.
• Contribute to backend software or data science development in Python or C# within the software team.

Qualifications required for this Firmware Engineer job 

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical / Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Proven experience in firmware design, coding, and testing.
• Strong knowledge of hardware, Software and firmware development processes
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
• Experience with C and C++ is essential.
• Python and/or C# is an additional desirable skillset.
• Project management skills and the ability to deliver on time.
