Apprentice Engineer, Kinnerton Confectionery (Fakenham, Norfolk)
Full time (Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week)

Kinnerton's engineering apprentice position is a vocational learning role and provides the opportunity to work directly in an established confectionery manufacturing facility in Norfolk. Off-site learning will be conducted with the assigned college in line with the learning agreement.
The duration of the apprenticeship is 42-48 months and will see successful candidates achieve the qualification at City & guilds Level 3 Maintenance Operations Engineering Technician.

- Maintenance best practice
- Materials science
- Thermodynamics
- Welding technologies
- Services and Utilities
- Electrical maintenance and installation requirements
- Fluid power systems

The individual will conduct activities in line with the agreed learning pathway and gain the skills and knowledge required to become a “multi-skilled” engineer. This learning pathway is tailored towards engineering with the food and drink sector specifically. The Kinnerton (Fakenham) site is positioned to provide access to a diverse range of equipment alongside experienced “time-served” engineers to further support your development and knowledge in the sector.
The site will also provide awareness and insight into key parts of the business including the operations team, Technical and quality, Warehouse, business transformation, new product development (NPD), finance.
The individual must be self-motivated, well-organised, and show a clear commitment to the program of learning. A keen eye for detail and mechanical aptitude will also benefit the role.
General day to day tasks of an apprentice engineer at Kinnerton can include:
- Participate in reactive and preventative maintenance under the support of a team of skilled engineers and your Mentor.
- Effective time management and planning to ensure the right time, right place, with right tools.
- Deliver the prescribed training objects on time in full, with clear ownership and accountability.
- To maintain an up-to-date engineering portfolio.
- Take accountability for your growth and development and be able to act on feedback as part of the regular check-in sessions.
- Rigid adherence to the company's Health and safety, Food safety and all other policies and procedures.
- Follow the instructions and methodology prescribed during your training.
- Develop and nurture good communication and professional relationships.
- Maintain good housekeeping and good manufacturing practices (GMP) as standard.
- Work only to your given authorisation and competency to challenge unsafe acts and behaviours.
- The candidate must meet the acceptance criteria of the C&G Level 3 which include a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade C/4 (or equivalent), including English, maths and a science.
- Basic levels of engineering fundamentals would be beneficial but are not essential.
- Punctuality, and organizational skills to ensure adherence to deadlines.
- Effective communicator.
- Logical (good problem solver).
- Willing to learn and able to take constructive feedback.
- Basic IT skills will be beneficial.
