Location: Winchester
Hourly Rate: £45-50ph
Start Date: 02/04/2024
Duration: Until end September 2024, then on a 6 monthly rolling basis

Role Summary:
As a Senior Engineer specialising in Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), you will be responsible for specifying, designing, procuring, installing, and commissioning ITS projects. Based in Winchester, you will collaborate with stakeholders to ensure solutions meet engineering and environmental considerations, manage project teams, and oversee maintenance programs for optimal performance.
Responsibilities:
- Specify, design, procure, install, and commission intelligent transport systems within timescales and budgets.
- Manage internal and external consultants and project staff to achieve program targets.
- Direct contractors and assign tasks to ensure effective implementation, operation, and maintenance of ITS projects.
- Implement and monitor ongoing maintenance programs to ensure optimum system performance.
- Influence traveller behaviour and resolve issues associated with traffic and travel information systems.
- Provide information to plan and monitor annual expenditure and authorise payment of invoices.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- RQF Level 4-6 in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
- Proficiency in LINSIG version 3 and TRANSYT 12 or later software.
- Experience with AutoCAD, KeySignals, and AutoTrack software.
- Experience with MOVA design, SCOOT UTC design, and Junctions 9 software.
- Ability to prepare and write feasibility reports.
Decision Making Areas:
- Technical specification of equipment and selection of suitable suppliers.
- Inspection and approval of work quality, including factory and site acceptance tests.
- Understanding competing priorities and deciding appropriate action.
- Conducting risk assessments.
Working Conditions:
- Hybrid working (home and office), with frequent site visits.
- Work outside of normal working hours may be required.
- Significant requirement for lone working on live highway and construction sites.
- Effective communication with stakeholders in challenging environments.
- Ability to meet travel requirements associated with the role.
