Are you passionate about supporting students with Social, Emotional, Mental Health (SEMH), Emotional and Behavioural Disorders (EBD), and challenging behaviours?
Role Overview:
As an Assistant Inclusion Coordinator, you will work closely with the Inclusion Manager to provide effective support and guidance to students with SEMH, EBD, and challenging behaviours. Your primary responsibility will be managing the inclusion room, where you will oversee up to 15 students at a time. This role requires a strong background in behaviour management, as you will be tasked with de-escalating challenging situations and ensuring students remain on track with their learning objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Inclusion Manager to implement strategies for supporting students with SEMH, EBD, and challenging behaviours.
- Manage the inclusion room, maintaining a safe and conducive environment for learning and personal development.
- Utilize effective behaviour management techniques to de-escalate challenging situations and promote positive behaviour.
- Provide one-on-one support to students as needed, offering guidance and encouragement to help them overcome obstacles and achieve their academic and personal goals.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external agencies to develop individualised support plans for students with complex needs.
- Keep accurate records of incidents, interventions, and student progress, ensuring that all relevant stakeholders are kept informed.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in the field of inclusion and behaviour management.
Requirements:
- A strong background in behaviour management, with experience working with students who have SEMH, EBD, and challenging behaviours.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Confidence in managing challenging behaviours and de-escalating volatile situations in a calm and effective manner.
- Resilience and patience, with the ability to remain composed and focused under pressure.
- A proactive and solution-focused approach to problem-solving, with a commitment to finding innovative ways to support student success.
- Relevant qualifications or training in education, special educational needs, or behaviour management are desirable but not essential.
