Job description
The University of Portsmouth has embraced change to create a new breed of university, where collaboration and partnership underpin the way we work. Our mission is to create, share and apply knowledge to make a difference to individuals and society through our programmes of study, research and innovation activities. We are proud to be a Civic University with global reach and a passion to make our life-changing education available to all who can benefit.
The University has once again been awarded a Gold rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework and has been ranked third of modern Universities for Research Power in the latest Research Excellence Framework. Despite this success we are not complacent, with our ambition being continued improvement towards being the top modern university in the UK by 2030.
We are seeking to appoint a new Executive Director of Corporate Governance. The role is key to ensuring high quality governance and compliance for all our activities as a foundation for success. As well as leading a department that oversees legal and regulatory compliance, information governance, procurement, internal audit, insurance, UKVI and student complaints and information disclosure, the role will directly support all Board of Governors activities and decision making.
We are a University which is changing, from an invigorated new senior leadership team to a new operating model. It is within that context you will bring your insight and analysis to support Board-level decision making. You will support the Chair of the Board of Governors and Vice-Chancellor in bringing fresh perspectives on governance matters within higher education through your knowledge and understanding of the law and practice relating to company administration, governance and compliance. The role needs an individual who works effectively with people across complex structures and who maintains a clear focus on achieving outcomes that align with our strategy.
The University is an exciting and exhilarating place to work and study that is well placed to respond to the opportunities of the future. You can find out more about the role at using reference AQ2491.
