General Manager job vacancy suited to an operations and engineering based person that has been working at senior manager or director level in production operations, general manager, or a similar role in a smaller business covering engineering, manufacturing, leadership and some commercial activities.

This General Manager vacancy is to manage and lead this engineering led manufacturing business.

· Engineering and Commercial Leadership of key staff in Sales, Quality, Engineering and Production. 

· Working with the retiring General Manager to take over the financial management, people leadership, and commercial strategy ranging from bid-no-bid to strategic growth.

· Begin to take ownership of several key customer relationships.

· Work closely with the retiring General Manager on financial and governance issues; cash flow and WIP, health and safety, machines & assets (disposal & investment), and 3 rd party relationships with the bank, and specialist support from external specialists like HR, Quality, H&S etc.

· Take a leadership role in strategic growth; this will mainly mean making bid-no-bid decisions on RFQs coming from key accounts. (This is not a new-sales vacancy).

· Support and lead direct reports in the Sales Office; final checks on quotes, pricing and costings produced by the Account Managers and Production Engineer.

As the General Manager the role will also include leading the culture and values of the business through your day to day approach as the leader, and ensuring that everyone in the business is being managed and developed (including training and appraisals). This <£8m manufacturing business has a solid base and several decades of trading relationships.

This General Manager job will be ideal for;

· A commercial and engineering person with an operations, production, costings or commercial engineering background.

· A leader with a track record of getting the best from engineering, production and commercial teams.

· A commercially-savvy mindset, and also able to use information to make informed decisions about pricing and bid-no-bid.

· The ability to work with customers, build relationships and demonstrate a credible a mix of engineering and commercial skills.

Above all, we are looking for a person that continue the success of the business through people leadership, key account relationships, bid-no-bid and commercial decision making.

Negotiable package for the right person, Guideline £80-85k plus car or car allowance. 

This job is commutable from Redditch, Birmingham, Shirley, Solihull, Coventry, Warwick.
