A Vacancy at Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join a rotation across our Neurorehabilitation services. The rotations include: Hyper Acute & Acute Neuro rehabilitation ward both based at Salford Royal Hospital and the Floyd unit INRU based in Rochdale. Expansion of this rotation to include a community rotation is also being considered. Our Hyper acute Neurorehabilitation ward is a 20 bedded ward. The team consists of 5 OT's and cares for patients requiring hyper acute medical management. The caseload includes a range of Neurological conditions including patients undergoing tracheostomy care and management, patients with Persistent Disorders of Consciousness (PDOC) and SCI. Our acute Neuro unit has 10 neurorehabilitation beds and has 2 OT's. The Floyd unit is based at the Birch hill hospital site in Rochdale and is a 19 bedded unit for the care of post-acute patients requiring ongoing community based in-patient rehabilitation. It has a team of 4 OT's. Strong interpersonal skills and a positive, proactive approach to service and professional development are essential. Excellent organisational abilities and the flexibility to travel across these sites will also be required. All rotations will provide you with strong clinical support and training allowing you an excellent opportunity to specialise in Neurorehabilitation across a variety of settings.
• To provide specialist, individualised, Occupational therapy interventions for all patients admitted with a Neurological condition.
• The role involves clinical, leadership and educational opportunities to develop outstanding evidence-based practice in the occupational therapy management of patients with neurological conditions.
• Excellent communication skills will be required to liaise effectively with treating clinicians, the patient, their family members, and community services and support networks throughout the patient pathway.
