Business Area: Halfords Support Centre
- Halfords is a Motoring & Cycling super-specialist with an exciting Retail portfolio of website, 400 stores, 600 garages and 700 mobile vans.
- This role is responsible for scoping, hands on delivery and stakeholder management for analytics in the Cycling Category, product owner for our customer segmentation and Board level customer KPIs.
- The Senior Analytics Manager role reports into the Head of Analytics in the Data & Analytics Directorate and manages a small team of analysts.
- Key stakeholders are the Exec, Cycling Category Team, E-commerce, Propositions, Marketing, Customer Loyalty & Operations.
- The Analytics Team works closely with the wider analytics community: Third party database hosts, Data Engineering, Pricing & Promotions (incl Market Share), CRM, CX (NPS), Market Research, E-commerce, Finance, Customer Service & Operations.
- The team predominantly delivers SQL based customer analytics using data from our customer database & Azure/Databricks datalake, Google Analytics (soon to migrate to GA4) and other 3 rd party data.
- Regular reporting is developed & delivered from within the team via Powerbi.
- The overall objective of the role is to deliver improved commercial outcomes for Halfords: customer profitability, conversion, cross sell, upsell, retention, acquisition and increased transaction value.
The role:
- Working with the team and wider analytics community to deliver weekly customer performance reporting and insight.
- Forecast and measure performance on Board KPIs – Customer Lifetime Value & Brand Cross Shop. Propose recommendations for performance action plans.
- We have a newly delivered customer segmentation which is now being proactively used by Marketing, Ecommerce and Propositions. The role will be responsible for further embedding the segmentation in the business, identifying opportunities to improve customer commercials & CX and curating our understanding of the segments.
- SQL based deep dive analysis with Powerpoint presentation and face to face debrief to senior managers on a regular basis, making effective use of insights and data visualisation to drive recommendations and decision making.
- Identify opportunities to use customer data to improve sales, market share and onsite conversion.
- Be an expert in customer database analytics & digital analytics – be able to identify the right analytic techniques to answer business questions/challenges. Push back if no value add.
- Support the development of our Cycling and Customer strategies with robust customer insight.
- Work with the Cycling Propositions team to quantify new product opportunities.
- Working with our Halfords Motoring Club loyalty scheme to identify new opportunities in the the cycling category.
Your experience
- Technical Essentials: SQL, Google Analytics (UA), Powerbi (or Tableau/Qlik), ETL, A/B Testing, significance testing, data visualisation, advanced Excel
- Technical Desirable: GA4, Python
- Track record of distilling complex information into compelling visualisations and actions.
- Ability to manage multiple partners and competing senior requests, prioritise, manage stakeholders and deliver to tight deadlines.
- Ability to manage a small team ensuring they have clear objectives and development plans.
- Loyalty scheme experience is a bonus
Your skills and qualifications
- 5+ years analytics experience
- Superior written and oral communication skills
- Ability to confidently present insights to non-technical audiences
- Good attention to detail and takes responsibility for the accuracy of their work
- Passion for customer and constantly curious
- Love of physical & digital retail
- Can-do attitude and the determination to achieve results
- Hands-on self-starter with the combination of analytic and commercial skills to work out what needs doing and then act upon it
- Enjoys working at pace in a fast moving and constantly changing environments
- Adept at managing multiple concurrent projects and able to prioritise workload accordingly
- Being a proactive team member, collaborating effectively with all teams and at all levels of the organisation
- A passion for cycling and/or motoring is a plus!
