Job Title: Head of Art and Photography

Salary: UL Competitive + TLR

Reporting to: Assistant Principal - TBC

Salford City Academy has an exciting opportunity to appoint a Head of Art and Photography. We wish to appoint a truly outstanding individual to lead the department. The right candidate must demonstrate the ability to lead subject improvement and the resilience to deal with the challenges of the role. We are looking for a curriculum leader who can support us in the next stage of our journey to consistently promote a culture of excellence and strong GCSE outcomes in Art and Photography. We are looking for an excellent subject leader who will be responsible for the leadership of the Art and Photography department. You will lead a team compromising teachers of Art and a specialist teacher of Photography. To be successful, you will lead the Art and Photography department with confidence and conviction and will be passionate about the power of education to transform lives. You will demonstrate impeccable professionalism, unwavering determination, and relentless optimism. Able to lead by example and be a source of inspiration, you will support and guide colleagues whilst demonstrating a love of your subject to cultivate a similar passion in your students. Furthermore, you will have the highest expectations of every student in terms of achievement and conduct.

Salford City Academy is highly ambitious and very successful 11- 16 academy which is part of the United Learning Multi- academy Trust. In February 2022 Ofsted judged the academy to continue to be a good school citing ‘Pupils at Salford City Academy said that they enjoy coming to school to learn. They feel happy and safe at school.’ Leaders have high expectations of pupils’ behaviour. Pupils behave well in lessons and around the school. They are polite, courteous and well-mannered. Leaders do not tolerate any derogatory behaviour. Pupils respect each other’s differences.’

Academic results at the academy have improves significantly from 2019. We were delighted to celebrate well above average results in 2022 and this summer we continued to achieve within the top three schools in Salford. Results in Maths and Science place us in the top 20% of all schools in the country.

The academy enjoys state of the art facilities and has a committed, high quality teaching team which is focussed on engaging and motivating all students. We have invested over …. Into the building over the past five years and investment won’t stop into the future. We have a state-of-the-art gymnasium, free for all staff, brand new dining and catering facilities, vast outside space with a new 3G pitch, newly built music and drama rooms. Our digital strategy ensures students and staff have access to the latest digital and electronic resources. With staff having a personal surface pro laptop.

Staff are supported professionally to ensure they can do that and are valued and recognised for their work.
