Moving with Dignity Lead Practitioner

ROLE & PURPOSE OF JOB:

The post holder will lead on the service development of delegated programmes of work relating to Moving and handling of people, principles of Moving with Dignity and single-handed care.

The post holder will provide practice leadership, by supporting the development of research informed practice, delivering a performance and quality assurance function, supporting staff development and contributing to strategic development in the organisation related to Moving and Handling of people.

Works with colleagues in Children and Young People’s Service (CYPS) to ensure that Moving and Handling assessment and practice has consistent approach across Social Care services.

Represents Adult Social Care and Hull City Council at relevant and appropriate decision-making forums providing information or professional input as required.

Works closely with Operations Managers and Practice Lead Managers to ensure the delivery of a consistent and proactive service, where workers feel supported and empowered to deliver their role

Works closely with partner Health and care provider agencies to ensure integrated approach to Moving and handling of people.

Qualifications:
Professional qualification registered as Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist registered to Health and Care Professionals Council, or registered nurse to Nursing Midwifery Council,
Or
have a post graduate certificate in Ergonomics & Human Factors qualification
Moving and Handling of people trainer Level 4 accredited or willing to undertake this within 6 months
Evidence of continuing professional development and membership of professional body.
Relevant Experience:
Extensive experience of working as a moving and handling
practitioner with people who have complex needs and require
specialist support and interventions
Evidence of working with people experiencing multiple
Disadvantages.
Experience of delivering, monitoring and planning services at an operational level.
Experience of undertaking Change Management, planning and implementing new ways of working in a complex environment.
Experience of successfully managing activity and performance targets.
Ability to build and maintain effective teams.
Ability to manage effective budgets/resources and enforce proper financial controls, showing sound business judgement.
Experience and understanding of planning and project management.
Experience of working in a service delivery environment which is person centred and outcome focused which promotes dignity, choice and control while safeguarding vulnerable people.
Experience of working within legislative framework e.g. the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 (MHOR) (as amended 2002) Care Act, MCA, Human Rights Act.
Skills (including thinking challenge/mental demands):
Motivation to work with children and young people and/or vulnerable adults (if relevant to the job).
Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children and young people and/or vulnerable adults (if relevant to the job).
Able to challenge constructively, to design and introduce improvements and to manage change.
Ability to plan ahead / organise / prioritise, implement service improvements and innovations.
Ability to synthesise and prioritise complex and potentially conflicting demands, understand and absorb information and resolve problems. Require highly developed co-ordination, time management and prioritisation skills to enable the post-holder to achieve plans and objectives in a timely and organised manner.
Ability to analyse problems, situations and information, think laterally and present innovative and feasible solutions.
Knowledge:
A knowledge and commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and/or vulnerable adults.
Possesses specialist skills and well-developed knowledge to provide in-depth support to a technical or operational service.
Able to predict and drive change in a rapidly changing environment to deliver a performance-based culture.
Understand how government policy/legislation impacts on council strategy and services.
Ability to analyse and solve problems with an appreciation of possible longer-term implications
Uses knowledge of the service to be able to make
decisions on requirements of the service and it’s development.
Knowledge of Mental Capacity Act, Deprivation of Liberty, Human Rights Act, Care Act.

Ability to establish professional, effective working relationships with a range of partners/colleagues and children & young people and/or vulnerable adults (if relevant to the job).
Ability to build and manage effective relationships with stakeholders.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to process complex information and explain/present the information.
Ability to build and maintain effective teams.
High level of communication and interpersonal skills. Clearly spoken with good telephone, face-to-face and presentation skills.

Written Skills
Ability to write structured and concise reports, letters, and memos in order to communicate complex information in an understandable manner.

Pay Per Hour: £31.98
