Senior Engineer
£350 – £475 per day
Freelance
Initially a 3 month contract
Based in Coventry, Midlands
Position good to knows
- Work on an exciting civils and infrastructure joint venture project
- Work from the construction satellite office in Coventry with Hybrid work options 1/2 days per week
- Occasional travel to the live construction infrastructure project in Carlisle
- Potential option to move to the live project in Carlisle once permanent project base is established
Your key duties as the Senior Engineer will be
- As a member of the project team, you will be responsible for a number of key tasks including RAMS, Take Offs and supporting the QS and Commercial teams
- The role requires some level of interfacing between internal departments and external agencies, such as Architects, Engineers, Construction Workers, Sub-contractors, Client agents, Clerk of Works and Site Staff, as well as some coordination of sub-contractors to ensure SRM obligations to sub-contractor are understood and discharged.
- You'll also be involved in regular site progress meetings with sub-contractors to monitor progress, quality and safety, etc. to ensure the Chief Engineer and Project Manager/Project Director are updated on all issues
- The role requires you to have “Appointment Person Status”
Overview of the Senior Engineer role
- Deal with technical enquiries from internal and external customers
- Design, analyses and verification of products
- Design and analyses of project installations
- Preparing/organising production drawings and technical data
- Preparing structural calculations
- Liaise with suppliers regarding technical matters and product development
- Arrange testing of products where necessary
- Liaise with Group and external consultants where necessary
- Technical presentations
- Checking plans, drawings and supervision of setting out co - ordination;
- Liaising with any consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors and the general workforce involved in the project;
- Overseeing quality control and the implementation of the companies of health & safety policy on site;
- Preparing reports as required for senior site manager & project manager;
- Pro - active approach to resolving any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise.

Overview of the Senior Engineer role
- Ideally a Degree in civil engineering, Construction Management or related field
- Experience of running more than one section discipline, preferably with experience electrical or utilities infrastructure projects
- A drive for delivering excellent quality compliance and assurance
- Technically proficient and problem solving minds
- Excellent communication skills
- A collaborative approach to project delivery
- Acting as the main adviser for subcontractors and the JV Electrical and construction contractors
Key must have’s you should have as the successful Senior Engineer
- Previous experience of RAMS
- Design and Interface experience
- Good knowledge of Take Offs
- Good experience of supporting the QS and Commercial Teams
- CSCS Card
- The role requires you to have “Appointment Person Status”
- You must have your own transport and be able to commute – No digs paid
