Job: Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Leicestershire
Salary: £45,000 -£60,000 DOE
Gi Group is excited to work in partnership with a reputable company in electrical energy management solutions. We are recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Leicestershire site. The successful candidate will be joining the transformers department, you will be preparing & completing documentation, design drawings in 3D CAD & PDM for power transformations.
THE ROLE: As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be required to: - Create Mechanical Design of Transformer and Reactor for up to 132kV Transformers.
- Plan manufacturing and customer drawings
- Drawings will include but are not limited to: Tank & Cover, Yoke clamps, Transformer assembly, general assembly drawings.
- Generate Tender GA and Tender documents.
- Ensure that all designs and applied technology are compliant with the relevant technical, safety and environmental standards, codes of practice etc.
- Analysis of test results and feedback.
- Generate best practice for Transformers designs and process within the organisation.
- Update and maintain the design software Inventor.
- Actively work on continues improvement of Transformer design and optimisation
- Identification of engineering processes, Quality systems and HSE requirements
- Create Technical Datasheet, Compliance document Tendering department.
- Deliver shipping list for Transformer and Reactors.
- Support IT department to keep Sovelia and CAD system up to date.
- Support Projects: Check and review scope of work are technically correct before it is being released on the system.
- Support Quality on supplier development and inspection
THE CANDIDATE:
The ideal Mechanical Design Engineer:
- Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical.
- Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk vault is must.
- Experience in PDM system is preferable.
- Mechanical Design of Power Transformer and Reactor for 132kV and 150MVA
