Job Description
Are you a finance professional looking to make an impact? Valeo Foods UK, based at our Kettle Crisps site in Norwich, is seeking a talented individual to join our team as a Finance Reporting Specialist. This role will report directly to the Senior Commercial Business Partner and play a crucial role in driving insights and analysis to support decision-making processes.
Key role objectives include:
Stakeholder Management
- Support the Senior Leadership decision making process through delivering robust insights and analysis of past and expected future performance on Impulse customers
- Business partner the Head of Impulse acting as trusted and valued financial advisor
Sales Business Partnering
- Deliver insight and commentary into past and future Impulse trading performance at a brand/customer/technology/product family level, against all relevant comparatives
- Ensure the Impulse Sales Teams understand their financial performance and trends
- Clear understanding of product and customer mix with value add insight to drive incremental sales and margin
- Work with Impulse Sales Team on annual plans where the customer uses these agreements. Ensure that Commercial Finance sign off all customer agreements prior to submission to customer
- Stay up to date on business/retail news and have a clear understanding of general retailer performance and strategies
Trade Spend & Account Support Overheads (ASOH)
- Responsible for controlling our Impulse ASOH spend and leading the monthly spend review process. ASOH should be linked to agreements with customers. Any discretionary spend is agreed prior to commitment with customers. Return on investment should be understood and tracked in the actuals/forecast
- Ensure all Impulse promotions are approved prior to the start date against agreed hurdle rates with exceptions discussed and reasons documented
- Understand the output of our post promotional evaluations and use this insight to drive changes to our promotional strategy via customer JBPs
Pricing
- Responsible for the financial modelling on all Impulse led initiatives going through the Gate Review process ensuring these align with hurdle rates
- Ensure the accuracy in Cognos (pricing and COGs) of any Impulse led initiatives to validate our Cognos forecast agrees to signed off P&L
- Responsible for ensuring any changes to Impulse base pricing are signed off by Commercial Finance prior to communication to customers. Commercial Finance to approve all price changes in the systems
- Work with Sales Team on any Impulse cost price increase (CPI) or pricing negotiations and ownership of CPI tracking
Month End and Forecasting
- Review the month end performance of the Impulse Channel and ensure reported numbers are accurate
- Provide insight and variance analysis on actual performance vs comparatives
- Support month end reporting to ensure accurate and timely information. Ensure product margin analysis and trade investment KPI’s are understood (NSV/kg, G2N% etc.)
- Support Impulse with the weekly sales process
- Review the forecast for the Impulse Channel to ensure accuracy and provide commentary and understanding on any variances. Support the channels understanding and tracking of any opps and risks
- Ensure any gaps to budget/forecast are understood and use network across the business to work with Impulse Sales Team on recovery plans
- Work with the Impulse Sales Team on their budgets and long term plans to ensure alignment with the business’s strategic direction
- Lead monthly balance sheet reviews with Impulse Team to ensure no exposure with our accruals and no surprises at year end
- Keep tight controls on the preliminary account with regular communication and follow up with problem accounts
Qualifications
- Experienced accountant working towards completing professional qualification
- Experience of working in a large organisation, preferably FMCG
- Commercial Accumen
- Experience with commerical pricing and bids & tenders
