We are currently looking for a Treasurer to join our board of trustees. The role involves taking a lead role regarding strategic financial planning, working with the CEO reviewing monthly management accounts, reporting on accounts to board meetings [which are held once every 5 to 6 weeks] and working with staff and accountants on the annual financial audit and annual accounts.
What are we looking for?We are looking for an experienced financial professional with a head for figures. Ideally, someone who has experience of working with accountants, producing annual accounts for the charity commission or similar bodies.
Ability to simply and clearly communicate financial matters to those without financial knowledge would be useful
Experience of charity governance, either as a trustee or treasurer is desirable, as is experience of close working with a CEO or senior management team
Knowledge of charity and company law is important to ensure we meet our statutory duties

Some experience of strategic planning is desirable
What difference will you make?Emmaus provides a safe place where men & women who have experienced homelessness [known as companions] can rebuild their lives. Companion's engage in training & development activities and gain vital work experience working in our social enterprise, which consists of a busy store selling donated furniture and household goods, a house clearance business and an online business. Some of the most rewarding aspects of being involved in Emmaus are seeing companions gain confidence and improved self esteem through training, work and solidarity activities and also seeing companions move on to employment and independent living. We have a friendly, motivated and committed staff team and board of trustees, who work together to over see and run the varied elements of the charity. Emmaus Oxford is part of the worldwide Emmaus movement and an active member of the UK Federation, Emmaus Europe and Emmaus International, not only making an impact locally but supporting solidarity projects globally.
