Head of Marketing & Communications

Location : London or Newcastle

Salary : Circa £75,000 per annum

Main Purpose of Role:

The Head of Marketing & Communications holds ultimate responsibility for the organization’s marketing and internal communications activities and oversees the development and delivery of a fully integrated marketing and communications strategy for the business.

Responsible for planning, development and implementation of all the organization’s marketing strategies, marketing communications, and public relations activities, both external and internal. Analyses market data and trends to identify ways to drive corporate strategy through the regional sales focus.  Develops and communicates support materials and services for regions in marketing, communications and public relations. Manages the marketing, communications and public relations staff and consultants; coordinates at the strategic and tactical levels with the other functions of the organization.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for supporting and servicing the Corporate and Regional organizations needs, both current and future activities in:

Development and implementation of the Brand strategy.

Developing the marketing strategy for new and existing products/service lines.

Build external technical marketing plan/ strategy that drives our market presence and thought leadership in webinars, conferences, promotion of technical papers, and the like.

Analysing market data and trends to identify new segments and target clients in each region which Penspen sales teams can pursue

Overseeing implementation of the Marketing strategy based on this market analysis and in coordination with regional sales teams - including campaigns, events, digital marketing and PR.

Working closely with the company’s Sales team; enabling them to meet their commercial objectives by providing them with appropriate market analysis and insights, target client data, marketing tools, materials and presentations

Work closely with the service lines to define marketing materials and programs for all the organisations value propositions to support target client account management

Manage social media presence and direct programs to improve social media reputation and recognition.

Developing and delivering marketing and communications strategies for the organisation.

Undertake continuous analysis of competitive environment and customer trends

Undertake and distribute in the organisation market analysis data in our strategic countries and in other countries as part of market entry planning.

Oversee the execution of all marketing efforts to ensure they are on strategy, on budget, and on schedule.

Develop and manage the marketing budget.

Internal Marketing and Communications

Support the delivery of Penspen’s internal and corporate communications strategy, recognising and celebrating the cultural customs of our diverse employee base whilst at the same time creating a strong sense of belonging to the Penspen organisation.

Work with HR and business leaders to define its internal communications strategy and plan to include:

Transmitting the organization’s values, vision and purpose.

Engaging people in the Penspen values & purpose.

Providing direction and resources, removing barriers and helping develop people’s skills, through internal communications and engagement plans

Developing the framework of key corporate communications such as quarterly briefings, HSE messages, etc, in a way that transfers information to knowledge and learning.

Supporting the development and execution of key employee engagement initiatives, anticipating conflict and facilitating resolution.

 

Knowledge / Experience (Skills):

10 years’ experience of developing and implementing successful marketing strategies across a global market within the energy sector, essential.

Demonstrable delivery of successful internal communications strategies that have delivered results.

Clear thinker and good communicator.

Strong analytics and able to draw strategic insights from ambiguous or incomplete market data.

Ability to develop relationships and engage with people at all levels across the business.

Ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of the business.

Excellent project management and delivery skills.

Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to multi task.

 

Qualifications:

Bachelor degree in Marketing or Engineering, desirable.
