This is an exciting opportunity to join the Commissioning Team in Tameside Children’s Services. We are advertising for a fixed term post to lead on a DfE project to expand current wrap around care in primary schools in Tameside.

The role offers opportunities for personal/professional development and a chance for someone to bring their own skills, knowledge and experiences to contribute to service innovation and improvement within a fast-moving, demanding and ever-changing environment.

The Post

The government’s ambition is that by 2026, all parents and carers of primary school-aged children who need it will be able to access term time childcare in their local area from 8am-6pm, so that parents can access employment and improve labour market participation.

To support this ambition, the government announced that it will provide up to £289 million of start-up funding over two academic years to support local authorities and providers in England to introduce or expand childcare provision on either side of the school day, which parents of primary school-aged children will be able to pay to access. This role will involve working in a collaborative manner with teams across the local authority, schools, families, childcare providers (including private providers, childminders, community and voluntary organisations and early years settings) to assess supply and demand and expand wraparound childcare provision that is accessible to children and families, including those with SEND

You will assist in the planning, co-production, development, co-ordination, and delivery of an ongoing programme of wraparound care for the parents of children in primary schools.  This will involve commissioning projects, providing effective challenge, support and project management across the partners to ensure that the improvement and integration strategies are effectively implemented.

About You

We are looking for a highly motivated, energetic person with great interpersonal skills and the capacity to forge excellent relationships and deliver effective multi-agency working. You will be passionate and have the ability to work strategically on intelligence led and high-quality commissioning. You will have the ability to deliver multiple projects within timescales while achieving required outcomes.

You will be driven to ensure the best for our children, and will be committed to involving them in coproduction as set out in our LISTENing framework.

You will have excellent analytical skills and lateral thinking to develop creative and innovative solutions. You will be positive about change and have experience of supporting innovation and culture change, to drive improvements across Children’s Services. You will have experience of overcoming barriers to deliver successful outcomes. You must be capable of working on your own initiative to help drive and enable improved outcomes for children.
