Great Bear is a leading 3rd party UK logistics business providing nationwide dedicated and shared user warehousing and distribution solutions for international blue chip clients. We operate in over 7 million sq. ft. of warehousing and operate a large modern commercial vehicle fleet, coupled with an extensive added value service offering.
Job Description
To assist in the day-to-day running of the warehouse in line with Company and customer standards.
To lead a team ensuring good productivity, picking and loading accuracy and the overall performance of the warehouse is achieved to meet customer and company service levels.
Shift: Any Five from Seven due to business needs but typically Monday-Friday.
Salary: £26,500 per annum.
- Ensuring all operatives are trained in the warehouse discipline of picking and loading and to arrange retraining where necessary
- Ensure that company standards of hygiene and housekeeping are achieved and taking appropriate action where it is not found
- Ensure that the Company Health & Safety Rules are enforced in the warehouse and any issues are reported in line with company procedures
- Instrumental in conducting risk assessments and safe systems of work from scratch where appropriate
- Ensuring Company HACCP processes are reviewed and implemented as required
- Identifying procedures and or systems used which could be improved to help minimise warehouse errors and maximise productivity
- To liaise accordingly with operations and all other departments and sites to develop strong working relationships
- To manage day to day team issues including holidays authorisation and arranging cover, timekeeping and absence monitoring, completion of daily time sheets
- To Manage performance/conduct issues of colleagues within the team, ensuring that they are resolved effectively and consistently in line with company policy and procedures with support from HR and escalating to Warehouse Manager where necessary.
Qualifications
- Driving licence preferred. .
- A good standard of education including Maths at GCSE level or equivalent relevant
qualifications
preferred. - Good working knowledge of MS Office – Word and Excel
- NVQ or equivalent in Supervisory Management preferred.
- IOSH preferred.
- Operational experience within a FMCG warehouse environment
- Operational experience within a temperature-controlled warehouse environment
- Customer service experience preferred.
