THE ROLE:
There’s never been a better time to join the team at Cycling UK! We have an ambitious new strategy that we’re launching in April 2024 – and we want you to be part of it. There are loads of reasons to love cycling, even if you’re not someone who cycles. From cutting pollution to making us healthier and happier, cycling can help us all thrive.
At Cycling UK, we want everyone to enjoy the benefits cycling offers to people and the planet. We’ll be sharing more information on our strategy soon but, it will focus on encouraging more short journeys by bike; promoting cycling as a popular, enjoyable, and safe activity for everyone; and striving to make every cycling experience a great one. Come with us on our journey and help us have more impact than ever before!
Our Cycling development officers are key local contacts across the network of Community Cycle Clubs and stakeholders, enabling opportunities to cycle in an inclusive manner. This will work to increase levels of physical activity, encourage cycling as a mode of transport and present pathways to cycling as a sport.
This role will be tasked to manage key relationships in the designated local area with stakeholders who have an interest in, or an affiliation to cycling. This could include, but is not limited to, bike -cycle centres, youth groups, extracurricular school groups, social enterprises and established not-for-profit organisations.
We would love to hear from you if you have a good understanding of the local community to develop and deliver projects which meet local needs to address health, social and economic inequalities across the designated region. You must be able to easily travel as this role also includes delivery of physical activity initiatives to groups of people.

We are an inclusive organisation and would particularly welcome applications from candidates from a broad range of backgrounds. We strongly believe that diversity strengthens our work. If you are already passionate about cycling, that’s great, many of us are too! But if you are simply really excellent at what you do, no matter what your background, that is what matters most to us.
You may have experience in the following: Alternative job titles for a Cycling Development Officer may include Bicycle Program Manager, Bike Advocacy Specialist, Cycling Outreach Coordinator, Active Transportation Coordinator, Bicycle Infrastructure Planner, Community Cycling Liaison, and Sustainable Transportation Officer.
