Description of Job

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our staff team to manage our Create interns and develop our growing 18–30s ministry.

We typically host around 6-8 interns each year, who work across four key areas: youth work, children’s work, worship and media. You would be responsible for managing this team, including: planning and managing the intake process for new interns; designing the interns’ practical programme and weekly timetable; ensuring they are pastorally supported and cared for; and coordinating their training in conjunction with South West Youth Ministries (SWYM).

This role also includes leading, developing and growing the 18-30s ministry at YCC. Your role would be to engage and encourage young adults, ensuring they can access appropriate mentoring and pastoral care; build a team of volunteers to host events; and encourage participation in the wider life of the church.

Yeovil Community Church is a vibrant, diverse community with a mix of generations and cultures, teens, adults, children and seniors living out faith, hope and love in our community. Alongside our Create internship, we host a thriving community hub where people can access a wide range of resources and support, including: stay and play groups for young families, dynamic children’s and youth programmes, a job club, the Yeovil Welcome Hub (providing care and support for refugees), The Roost (a drop-in service for the homeless and vulnerably housed), and a buzzing coffee shop where people can find great food and a warm welcome. We also provide help to around 200 families in crisis per year through our very successful Yeovil4Family programme. It’s a great place to help people find hope and encounter Jesus.

If you are passionate about seeing young adults encouraged, equipped, valued and empowered, and have strong pastoral and leadership skills, then we’d love to hear from you.

Full details of the job specification and application process can be found in the Role Profile below.

Yeovil Community Church is a vibrant and diverse group of Jesus followers, with an exciting mixture of generations and cultures, families and individuals, teens, adults, and thriving seniors living out faith, hope and love in our community. Our church runs a student internship programme and a dynamic children and youth programme. We also provide help to around 200 families in crisis each year through our Yeovil4Familiy programme, work with a wide range of agencies to support vulnerably housed and homeless people, run stay and play groups for young families, operate the Yeovil Welcome Hub (supporting refugees and asylum seekers in South Somerset), and offer a warm welcome in our thriving Coffee Shop.

We hosted the Covid vaccination programme for Yeovil and the surrounding area, so most of the town has passed through our doors over the last couple of years. It’s a great place to help people find hope, and encounter Jesus.
