Project Engineer

18 month contract

Hull

Outside IR35

The successful candidate will have previous, hands on experience with steam raising plant (Boilers, steam turbines, pressure piping etc).

As a Project Engineer, you will have the opportunity to play a crucial role in overseeing and managing engineering projects from start to finish. If you are a highly organised and detail-oriented professional with a passion for engineering and project management, this is the perfect opportunity for you.

Responsibilities:

Role will be client facing throughout the project.

Provide technical expertise and guidance to the project team, evaluating project requirements and design specifications.

Manage a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technicians, and professionals involved in the project.

Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.

Responsible for the specification and procurement of various equipment packages and their successful integration into a full steam cycle power generation plant.

Working with process engineers to develop equipment datasheets for procurement purposes

Attendance and participation in HAZID and HAZOP meetings

Estimate project costs, prepare budgets, and monitor expenses to ensure projects stay within budget.

Making preparations for Contractors attending site, i.e. reviewing RAMS, organising inductions, organising any plant, access equipment or permits which may be required in order for the Contractor to carry out their work safely and efficiently.

Manage sub contract specialist engineering such as Structural calcs, noise studies, flow modelling

Identify potential risks and challenges and develop strategies to mitigate them.

Ensure compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and industry best practices.

Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to procure necessary equipment, materials, and services.

Maintain accurate project documentation, including technical reports, project updates, and change orders in line with client and in house procedures.

Communicate project status, milestones, and challenges to stakeholders through progress reports and meetings.

Promote a safe working environment by ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

Key Skills and Experience Required:

Fundamental understanding and practical experience working with steam raising and/or process plant

The ability to read and understand Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)

The ability to read and understand Heat and Mass Balances

The ability to prepare equipment datasheets and undertake procurement activities for balance of plant equipment including pumps, valves, pressure vessels.

Practical experience project managing the installation of process plant such as boilers, steam turbines, process piping, water treatment and heat exchangers

Practical experience of managing 3rd party contractors on a construction site

Strong technical knowledge and understanding of engineering principles.

Basic understanding of plant Electrical and Instrumentation systems/equipment.

Excellent organisational, communication and time management skills both internally and client facing.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Knowledge of Waste to Energy Plant or Offshore Oil and Gas an advantage but not mandatory.

Ability to work well under pressure and meet project deadlines.

Proficiency in MS Office and MS Project

Desired Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field. Or

HNC/ONC or similar and multiple years’ experience in similar role
