Job description
We are looking for a Care Worker to join our team at The Pottergate Centre, Alnwick.
The Centre is open Monday to Friday between 8:30am and 4:30pm and provides care and support for adults with learning difficulties.
• Location: The Pottergate Centre, Howling Lane, Alnwick, NE66 1DJ
• Salary: £24,294 - £25,979 FTE (pro rata for part time employees)
• Contract type: Permanent / Part Time – 30 hours. The successful applicant will be expected to promote the wellbeing, self-confidence, and independence of our service users, providing activities that meet service users' needs and interests, create opportunities for social contact and learning opportunities supporting service users to access and make best use of local community facilities.
In your day-to-day duties you will be expected to provide care and support to the service users who attend the Pottergate Centre assisting the supervisory team in the delivery of the Centre's timetable of activities.
You will be expected to meet clients' intimate and personal needs and to maintain their privacy and dignity at all times. You will administer medication in accordance with medical advice and service procedures observing best practice. Training will be provided.
About the centre: Being a Care Worker isn’t all about personal care and medication. We have lots of fun at the Pottergate Centre!
Activity sessions run during the week, therefore you will support with visiting the local Sports Centre for a variety of sports such as kurling, cricket, pickleball, and working alongside Smile Through Sport.
We also have a drumming group called Rhythmstix, and have sessions such as FitSticks, Art, Creative Design, Gardening, Cooking/Baking, Pamper, Music and Sensory. You will be involved with regularly running discos, Bingo and BBQs, along with an Advent Calendar of Christmas events throughout December.
We’re always open to new ideas and run an annual Co-Production Day with our Service Users to find out what we’re doing right and what they would like to change about their Centre.
You will act as a keyworker and will be expected to maintain appropriate written records ensuring that all interested parties are kept aware of Service Users circumstances and report any concerns/issues promptly advising supervisor staff/management of any change to care and support arrangements for the service user. We transport several Service Users on our own Centre vehicles so you may also be driving our Centre transport or acting as a passenger assistant.

You should be aware of and comply with relevant legislation's National Standards and Codes of Conduct for Social Care staff. You will have a good general education demonstrating good literacy and numeracy. We are looking for an adaptable person who will bring enthusiasm and energy to the Centre.
