Job description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Science Teacher to join our dynamic team at a partnering Shrewsbury school. This full-time position is temporary and will commence from Easter, providing an exciting opportunity for a skilled educator to inspire and engage students in the fascinating world of science.

About the School...

A Shropshire based, 3-18 community school caters for all staff and students. It holds an intake above national average and its 30 acre attractive and pleasant location the school was most recently reported as ‘good’ by Ofsted.

The multi academy trust is looking to recruit an exciting and versatile English specialist on a permanent basis in the new academic year!

Responsibilities…

• Plan and deliver high-quality Science lessons across various disciplines (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics) to Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students.

• Differentiate teaching approaches and resources to accommodate the diverse learning needs and abilities of students.

• Organise and conduct laboratory experiments and practical investigations, promoting hands-on learning experiences that develop students' scientific inquiry skills and critical thinking abilities.

• Implement regular formative and summative assessments to evaluate student progress and attainment. Provide timely and constructive feedback to support students in their academic development.

• Establish a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel supported, motivated, and encouraged to participate actively in lessons.

• Work collaboratively with colleagues within the Science department and across other subject areas to share best practices.

• Maintain open and effective communication with parents and guardians, providing regular updates on student progress.

Requirements…

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a degree in a relevant scientific discipline.

• Proven experience teaching Science at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 levels, preferably within a UK secondary school setting.

• Strong subject knowledge across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, with the ability to teach one or more specialisms at GCSE level.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and engage students from diverse backgrounds and abilities.

• Commitment to maintaining high standards of teaching and learning, in line with school policies and educational best practices.
