Ron Dearing University Technical College (RDUTC) seeks an inspirational and skilled Head of Engineering to lead our outstanding Engineering department in our state-of-the-art school.
Overall purpose of the post:
- Lead the design and development of an outstanding, innovative and creative Engineering curriculum
- Lead self-evaluation within the Engineering Department
- Lead the development and implementation of the Engineering Department Improvement Plan
- Establish and develop effective team working practices within the Engineering department
- Lead teaching and learning within the Engineering Department, including co-ordinating staff appraisal and quality assurance of teaching and learning
- Teach Engineering to Key Stage 4 and 5 students (OCR Cambridge National qualifications and OCR Cambridge Technical qualifications)
- Promote and model inspirational teaching and learning within your own teaching
- Lead the implementation of the Target-setting and Assessment policy within the Engineering Department
- Monitor students’ progress towards targets, identifying those who are underachieving and implementing effective intervention strategies to address the underachievement within the Engineering department
- Lead the implementation of the Professional Values and Behaviours policy within the Engineering Department
- Manage student welfare, child protection and anti-bullying procedures effectively within the Engineering Department
- Manage the Engineering departmental budget and resources effectively to maximise impact on teaching and learning and provide value for money
- Ensure that the allocation and use of accommodation within the Engineering department provides a positive and safe learning environment that promotes the highest achievement for all
- Line manage the Engineering Middle Leadership Team and the Engineering Technicians
