Job description

Our client, a reputable nursing service for the rehabilitation of adults in the City of Plymouth, is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals looking to extend their clinical experience within the field of brain injury and neurological disorders.

About the Role:

As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in promoting the health and well-being of our residents. You will work closely with a well-trained team of professionals in a nursing service catering to the rehabilitation of 22 adults. Situated near local shops and amenities, our care home provides a supportive environment for both staff and residents.

Requirements:

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Contribute to and function as part of the Multi-Disciplinary Team under the guidance of the Senior Occupational Therapist

Assess new clients.

Devise and implement rehabilitation programs for clients.

Work closely with Therapy Assistants, offering guidance and advice.

Provide Occupational Therapy cover during the absence of other Occupational Therapy staff.

Assist with student training and education of Therapy Assistants, Rehabilitation Staff

To formulate and deliver OT treatment and intervention based on assessment and sound clinical knowledge.

Carry out specialist neurological assessments including the Cognitive Assessment of Minnesota, Rivermead Behavioural Memory Test, Behavioural Inattention Test, Test of Every Attention

To educate Clients, family, and staff in the use of seating, postural management and manual handling equipment and techniques.

Liaise with the Senior 1 Occupational Therapist regularly to keep updated of Client and service developments and needs.

Communicate complex and sensitive information to Clients, family, rehabilitation staff and other staff including details regarding therapeutic diagnosis and prognosis using tact and empathy.
