UBT are proud to be working with a growing family-owned SME organisation based in Abingdon. The business is one of the UK’s leading suppliers to the Hospitality industry providing a full range of furniture to their many UK clients and also working with International clients. Due to an expansion in their team they are now looking to recruit a newly created permanent position of a Buyer/Purchasing Officer to join the Purchasing department. This role is crucial in ensuring adequate stock level of products are available for a very diverse range of furniture with many configurations of both fabric and finishes which will include interrogating data, working with stock lines and individual projects, this requires the skill to forecast accurately based on stock in the warehouse for contracted clients and also track individual orders for specific projects. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Buyer/Purchasing Officer who will be a lead in a small team utilising their experience and skills. [ The role ]
- Raise orders as detailed in accordance with re-order levels and re-order quantities.
- Raise orders for specific project orders.
- Liaising with Suppliers as to expected delivery dates of orders and back orders.
- Liaising with Suppliers as to current prices and updating our systems accordingly.
- Work closely with operations to ensure product is delivered to our warehouse in a timely manner for delivery to site.
- Work closely with sales to ensure we clearly communicate production times and also work to find suppliers that can meet the demands of the customer.
- Forecasting for seasonal adjustments in stock based on restaurant trackers and also outdoor furniture.
- Ensuring that at least 3 months’ worth of stock of all contracted products is available taking in mind lead times on supply.
- Taking responsibility for some large product values and also small values but understanding and taking responsibility for the level of impact that any size order can have on the overall delivery to our clients of an order.
- Interrogate data and search/source suppliers for special items outside normal stock lines and also for stock lines to ensure we are always buying the right quality at the right price.
- Helping source and find prices for ‘special order’ items
- Look at duplication of orders and errors in the ordering process and work closely with the customer service team
- Other purchasing admin work and filing
- Other duties as requested including helping Sales & Customer Services departments as needed.
- GP manager, part of this role is to take overall responsibility for the GP. This involves checking the sales price against purchasing and ensuring we have the right margin. Where possible we need to buy better and use efficient transport to ensure we achieve the correct margin or improve the margin. Where a sales person has sold the product too low this needs to be flagged and understand the reason why and then send details to marketing to adjust any advertised prices that are too low.
- This person would also be instrumental in establishing and managing the Cost fields for the products within Netsuite;
- They would, also be dealing with the Finance team resolving any queries or discrepancies on purchase orders and supplier invoices;
Requirements
- Be able to work extremely accurately with figures and product codes
- Have a high degree of literacy both written and verbal
- Previous experience in a procurement/buying role
- Have a good understanding of IT and proficient in Excel and Spreadsheet work
- Conscientious, enthusiastic, loyal, truthful and trustworthy
- Professional in manner, demeanour and dress
- Prepared to go the ‘extra mile’
- Prepared to learn and be able to work together as a team-person.
- Ideally have a full UK driving licence and vehicle as daily working from our Abingdon office is essential although we do accommodate some hybrid as needed.
Working hours are between 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday (flexible working arrangements available)
