Location: Leatherhead, Surrey
Position: Special Needs Assistant
Salary: £75.00 - £82.00 per day
Contract: Temporary to Permanent, Full-time
Are you a compassionate and proactive individual with a passion for making a difference in the lives of children and young people with autism? We are currently seeking a dedicated Special Needs Assistant to join our team in Leatherhead, Surrey. This rewarding role involves providing support to children with autism in both primary and secondaryclassrooms.
Key Responsibilities: - Assist in the implementation of individualised education plans for students with autism.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that promotes the academic and social development of students.
- Utilise effective strategies to de-escalate behaviour and maintain a calm atmosphere conducive to learning.
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to create and adapt learning materials to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Provide support as necessary, ensuring the safety and well-being of students at all times.
- Maintain a clean and safe learning environment.
Requirements: - Previous experience working with children or young people, particularly those with special needs, is highly desirable.
- Ability to demonstrate empathy, patience, and resilience in challenging situations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to the unique needs of each student.
- Availability to work full-time, Monday to Friday, from 8:30am to 3:30pm, with a 30-minute break.
- Must be based in or willing to commute to Leatherhead, Surrey.
