Role: Senior Project Manager in Programme Delivery
Salary & Benefits:£48,454 - £70,338 dependent on experience, company car lease/allowance scheme, annual bonus, private health care, pension scheme (Up to 10% company contribution) and 25 days holiday plus bank holidays. Location: This role is a flexible hybrid working arrangement with an expectation that some time will be spent working from the site where the team operates at Buttershaw in Bradford. As part of the role, you will be required to travel to different Yorkshire Water locations, therefore a full valid UK driving licence is essential for the role with no more than 6 points.
We are currently recruiting for a Senior Project Manager who will be accountable to the Capital Delivery Programme Manager and will be working across all programmes of work in Programme Delivery. The focus for the role over the next 2 years will be driving the early start programme of work for our AMP8 (2025 – 2030) capital programme to ensure we are set up to successfully deliver our next 5-year programme. This role will then become part of the AMP8 Capital Delivery Team. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity.
The Capital Delivery team consists of Yorkshire Water colleagues, contract partners, sub-contractors and consultants working collaboratively to deliver the majority of the capital programme for the company. Over the next five-year period, we anticipate a programme of work in the region of £ 3 billion of investment covering the whole range of water and wastewater assets. The Senior Project Manager plays a pivotal role in the successful delivery of this portfolio of capital projects.
What will the role involve?
You will be accountable for delivering our early start programme, parts of the AMP8 delivery model and working with Yorkshire Water and external stakeholders to ensure we are AMP8 ready.

What key skills are required?
You will be a focused and driven individual who revels in a challenging environment and has a passion for excellence and a can-do attitude. You will have had previous experience of leading a team in delivering complex construction projects in a live operational environment or delivering procurement models.
You will have great people management skills and be a coach and mentor to your team colleagues, assisting in peer reviews of projects not under your control to support the overall programme needs.
You will demonstrate professionalism and excellent performance and will be an accomplished communicator, negotiator, and presenter.
You must have the ability to work within a partnering environment; form and maintain excellent internal and external working relationships and be able to facilitate, mediate and resolve project issues. You will have a proven track record of project management and planning and financial / budget management. You will have experience of leadership and managing multi-disciplinary teams through the project life cycle, and experience of managing large workloads of multiple projects concurrently.
You will have considerable knowledge of the construction processes from civils works through to mechanical, electrical and ICA equipment and the logic and technical constraints around each of these areas.
To be successful you must have a strong commercial understanding of NEC conditions of contract, as well as programme monitoring and expenditure forecasting skills to ensure robust financial and commercial management. You will have a proven record of budget management and financial performance and understand contract and commercial management.
You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills; including the ability to present and communicate complex information to a wide range of audiences. You must be able to articulate and have proven ability to engage with customers internally and externally, developing and maintaining strong positive business relationships to understand their needs and recognise opportunities.
You will have a wide level of experience in negotiations and conflict management in a project environment.
You will have previous experience and/or qualifications in one or more of the following areas:
• Leadership and management
• Large-scale tendering
• Project 13 experience
• NEC4 Contract model
• Building Information Modelling
• Alliance working
• Broader utilities, process or manufacturing/construction industry sectors
• Civil Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical and Instrumentation
• Process Safety
A recognised qualification in project/programme management such as Prince 2 or APM is desirable but not essential. Ideally, you will have experience of working with others to drive innovation to deliver project efficiencies and cost savings for the business.
